Stree 2 hits theaters on August 15, promising an exciting clash with three other major releases this Independence Day. Stree 2: Cast to plot, everything you need to know about the horror comedy

Stree 2 Cast and Characters

Rajkummar Rao reprises his role as Vicky, while Shraddha Kapoor returns as the enigmatic unnamed character. Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Sunita Rajwar also reprise their roles as Rudra, Jana, Bittu, and Jana’s mother, respectively. Tamannaah Bhatia joins the cast as a new addition.

Despite her special appearance as Shama in the upbeat song “Aaj Ki Raat,” Tamannaah plays a pivotal role in the movie. In the Stree 2 trailer, her character Shama is seen being dragged by a supernatural force, potentially the story’s antagonist.

The newly released romantic song “Khoobsurat” showcases the reunion of Bhaskar and Stree, following the song “Thumkeshwari” from Bhediya, which also featured Kriti Sanon. Varun Dhawan appears as Bhaskar, also known as Bhediya, who romances Stree, while Rajkummar’s Vicky attempts to win over Shraddha. Flora Saini, who played Stree in the original film, has not yet been introduced in the sequel.

Plot

The new storyline follows a headless monster named Sarkate, who kidnaps women in the small town of Chanderi. As the townspeople are terrorized by Sarkate, Vicky, Rudra, Jana, and Bittu, along with Shraddha’s unnamed character, devise a plan to stop him. The trailer reveals that Sarkate is the one who turned Stree into an angry spirit that haunted men. At the trailer’s end, Vicky decides to seek Stree’s help to confront the headless monster.

Raj and DK’s Exit from Stree 2 and the Supernatural Universe

After the original Stree, there was a dispute between Raj and DK and Dinesh Vijan. The writer-director duo alleged that they were not properly compensated for the film, despite being writers and co-producers. The rift was eventually resolved, and they released a joint statement: “We, Maddock Films Pvt Ltd (and its promoter Mr. Dinesh Vijan) & D2R Films LLP (and its partners Raj Nidimoru & Krishna DK) are pleased to confirm that we have amicably resolved our differences with regard to our film Stree which released in August 2018. All copyright & intellectual property rights in & to the film Stree including the derivative rights thereof are henceforth owned solely by Maddock Films Pvt Ltd.” While Raj and DK wrote the screenplay for the first installment, Niren Bhat, known for Bhediya and Munjya, has penned the script for Stree 2. Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande co-produce Stree 2 under Maddock Films and Jio Studios, respectively.

Stree 2 is set to release on August 15, 2024, clashing with John Abraham and Sharvari’s Vedaa, Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein, and Vikram’s Thangalaan, all releasing the same day.
